Scoring 15 out of 20 or higher means you have solid knowledge of world flags. The quiz includes a mix of well-known flags like Japan, Brazil, and Canada alongside less familiar ones from countries such as Bhutan, Mozambique, and Nepal. Getting all 20 right puts you in rare company, since most casual players score between 12 and 16 on their first attempt. The result screen gives you a title based on your performance, ranging from Beginner to Geography Master.
National flags are one of the most universal forms of visual identity. Every country in the world has one, and their designs carry deep meaning through colors, symbols, and patterns. Red often symbolizes courage or revolution, blue represents freedom or the sea, and green commonly stands for agriculture or Islam. Stars, crescents, crosses, and other emblems reflect a nation's history, religion, or natural features. Learning to recognize flags builds cultural awareness and geographic literacy at the same time.
Nepal is the only country whose flag is not rectangular, featuring two stacked triangles. Switzerland and Vatican City are the only two countries with square flags. Libya once held the record for the simplest flag in the world, an entirely green rectangle used from 1977 to 2011. The flag of Mozambique includes an AK-47, making it the only national flag to feature a modern firearm. Denmark's Dannebrog, dating back to 1219, is considered the oldest continuously used national flag.
This quiz runs entirely in your browser. No answers or scores are sent to any server. The score travels through URL parameters from one question to the next, so nothing is stored remotely. You can play as many times as you like without creating an account.
